Chapter WA-H has been participating in the July
4th parade in Blaine, WA several times last few years. (We also do the
Farmers Day parade the first Saturday in June each year in Lynden, WA.)
July 4th morning starts out meeting at Chet and
Kathy Renskers' home for a continental breakfast and to get the Wings
decorated and ready for the parade. About an hour later it's time
to head out the three blocks to the "check in". And while
waiting for the parade to start, we enjoyed the "street fair" and
the "show n shine" car show in the middle of town. Blaine is a
very "small town middle America community".
Here are some pictures:
1. Wings lined up and getting ready in front
of Chet and Kathy's home in Blaine, WA
2. Waiting for time to go: Betty Robertson, Chet
Renskers, Cliff Kamm, Ron Robertson, Randy Reid
3. Getting the Chapter banner ready to go.
Judy Calman "supervising".
4. Larry
and Judy Peters: Lead Wing with National Anthem and Patriotic music playing
during the parade. We all stopped in front of the
announcers booth, removed helmets and stood at attention while the
National Anthem played. Was wonderful to see and hear the crowd quiet
down and come to attention also.

Chet's left shoulder.
It was a fun time for those participating.
We enjoyed showing off our beautiful Gold Wings and heard many "ohhs and
ahhs" along the way. Lots of people took pictures, waved, and we
could see some heads nodding in understanding when the announcer
said, " - - and they get good gas mileage".
After the parade we again assembled at the
Renskers' home. Garry and Judy Calman hosted a "sandwich"
lunch. Thus, we visited and ate some more. Then later
in the evening we met again at Larry and Judy Peters' home in Bellingham to
have a BBQ and enjoyed the fireworks over Bellingham Bay.
Chapter WA-H members participating in the day:
Garry and Judy Calman, Ervin Jarl, Cliff and Pam Kamm, Lee Witbeck, Larry and
Judy Peters, Chet and Kathy Renskers, Randy Reid (Debbie had to work and came
later), Ray Hunter, Milli Pavone, Ron and Betty Robertson. Most
rode, some took pictures. Great day!
Hope you enjoyed sharing with us.
