Please see the section below, listing the first of - hopefully - many such vacations that others might wish to connect with. These are "over and above" the planned Chapter rides that Dave is spear-heading. Thus, as you plan your vacations please contact your Newsletter Editor so your dates and places can be added in order. Chatter - - - Chet Renskers Our January social was very well attended, and fun was had by all. Thank you to Larry and Judy Peters for opening their house to us. Also, thanks to Larry for picture taking for the update to the website. A lot of information is packed in this months news letter, it might be a good idea to keep this handy or print it out for future reference. It looks like our riding weather is off to a good start, for those of us who have taken advantage of it. A lot of events are upcoming this year, a lot of riding possibilities, and a lot of fun. Look at the calendar for this year, and plan an outing whenever you can. Members have put together a lot of ideas for us to choose from. It has been suggested, from a source who remains anonymous, that a few night rides are in order to show off all of the chrome and lights that have been added. That idea could be explored later when it warms up a bit. Chet (renskers@telcomplus.net)
Treasurer - Steve Munro Hello to all, As those that attended the January meeting already know, in order to encourage our co-riders to participate in advanced training, Chapter H will reimburse any of our member co-riders for their pre-registration fees ($15) to attend the Washington District Rider Education Workshop in Buckley on Feb 20th. Anyone who would like to have the chapter do this, please fill out the registration form for both of you, include your check for the full amount and send it in to the address on the form. Have it postmarked no later than Feb 2, 2010. Be sure to make a copy of the registration form and your check. Get that copy to me and I will reimburse you for the co-rider's fees from the club treasury. Thanks! Steve

Web
Master - Jeff Kelton The
results are in for highest mileage ridden in 2009.Here are the results.
Chapter Photographer - Larry Peters At the Chapter Pot Luck on Jan. 23rd, Larry started taking photos of couples to be put on the Chapter Web Site. If you were not present - please know that you will be getting your turn in future times. Thank you Larry, for doing this. A great improvement for the Web Site - seeing our faces - what a concept.
Technical Advisor - - Cliff Kamm VALVE STEM PROBLEM A failure in the 90-degree valve stem used in the Goldwing front and rear tires can cause air leakage during riding. This problem is usually noticed on a trip and can cause a considerable amount of problems. The stem can fail, but not necessarily while the tire and wheel are at rest. The leak can occur while riding. Apparently the dynamic forces involved with the rapidly rotating wheel are enough to cause a distortion or displacement of the stem, causing a 'dynamic' leak while the wheel is rotating. If you are experiencing a slow - or not so slow - leakage from you tire, pay careful attention to the stem. It might be a good idea to have the entire stem replaced when mounting a new tire. The small added cost of a new stem is more than offset by the possible benefits - such as avoiding a road mishap. Make sure when you check the air pressure or fill the tire that you press on the BACK side of the valve stem with your finger to counter-act the pressure of the tire gauge or the air chuck to relieve strain on the valve stem assembly. Also insure that the stabilizer bracket that holds the stem in place is properly seated on the rim. This bracket or 'brace” helps protect the stem from being displaced by centrifugal forces thereby preventing failure under the stresses of normal riding. And as always, check you air pressure before each ride.

Hello Riders: I am asking for suggestions for the few dates we have open. Probably a Whidbey Island overnighter will take one of the weekends above. DVK
Invitation from Canadian friends: We would like to welcome you all to join us at Victoria Days 2010. There will be a dinner menu up date posted on our web site as soon as we have it finalized. Please pass this info on to your chapter for us. Thanks, Kirk & Kathy Elliott kelliott@ocis.net Web Site: http://www.vwh.ca/bc-g/events.html BC-G CD's, Kamloops, BC Note: Poster and registration forms will be at the WA-H meeting on February 9th. This is a fun Rally, we encourage all who can to attend. The Canadians know how to put on a grand party. K.R.

Lady's notes:
Thank
you notes:
Pam
Munro wishes to thank the Chapter for the remembrance for the passing of
her Father last month. The kind prayers and sympathy were
appreciated. Kirk and
Kathy Elliott; On January 23rd Kathy & I
were welcomed at your chapter pot luck supper hosted by Larry & Judy Peters
at their beautiful 110 year old Victorian home in Bellingham. We enjoyed the
evening and company very much. I
took note of the talk of your WA-H chapter and our BC-G chapter in Kamloops
doing a host and visit exchange which the Robertson’s and us have been
encouraging for a few years on both ends. From the talk I heard Saturday night
it sounds like this might be the year to try this and see how it flies. We think
all who participate would have a good time, as we all know ( you meet the nicest
people on a Honda). Kamloops is only an enjoyable four hour ride away. Please
think about it and pass your thoughts on to Chet & Kathy. Kathy
& I would like to thank all those who prepared the fine food for the pot
luck and our host Larry & Judy for the warm welcome to their home.

- We
talked about vacation rides at the last meeting so passing this along for any
one that’s interested. From
that site I found a rally that’s held every year in Colorado and since I
have not ridden that area Cathy and I signed up to go in September and have
made our hotel reservations, special rate $79 a night. I also think Jeff’s
signed up but will be camping. It’s very loose with no meetings and no
fees and open to any bikes and just a chance to hang out with lots of people
and day rides with someone that knows the area. You can find details at: http://rockies-gold.net
then click on 2010. They have already 300 people and 215 bikes from
all over, looks like fun. Cathy
and I are thinking of leaving on the 12th and coming back on the
25th September. We thought we would see a little of
