MEETING NOTES
The meeting was called to order by Garry Calman our chapter director. We had twenty-two regular members attending with four visitors, three from Chapter "I" and a friend of Randy and Debbie Reid.
We received a beautiful thank you card from Elaine Nyhoff for our participation in the "Iraq Service men and women" gift boxes.
Our up coming camp out at Grandy Creek KOA and Saturday ride to Winthrop was discussed.
This November will be the 25th Anniversary of Chapter "H". Do you have an idea about what we should do as a Chapter to celebrate? Please let your ideas be known. Get in touch with Garry before end of month.
October 20th is our next potluck. Would you be willing to share your home for the Chapter? We need a place. Let Garry know before our next Chapter meeting on October 9th.
Once again we are gathering food for a basket to be donated to some deserving family. If you are able to join in and donate canned food, any personal needs or perhaps money, it will be greatly appreciated. Please bring it with you to the next meeting.
Chet Renskers our "Rider Educator" gave us some very vital information concerning the cold foggy mornings. That white fog line can be very slippery when wet. Also, the semi tractors and trailers coming out of Mexico are not up to the safety standards of the US and Canadian vehicles, so beware of these vehicles on the road.
Ron Robertson our "Motorcylcle Awareness Coordinator", said is able to speak to any organization or gathering to explain GWRRA.
Remember the "Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish"? Well because of the propellants it is not being sold in Washington State, but you can now order it at www.compacc.com or 800-343-5073 at $4.99 a 16oz. spray can. Orders over $100.00 are shipped for free.
Shirley Petty's name was drawn for the "Colors" draw. She was not present so in October it will be $20.00.
The 50/50 ($45.50) was won by Paul Kellett.
If you have an idea or just want to go for a ride on a Saturday morning, you can let other Chapter members know by email. Time is set 10am at REI in Sehome Village. These are not necessarily a Chapter function.
REMEMBER!! Friday, September 21st is the last planned dinner ride at Warnies in Sumas and the 28th is an open Friday if weather permits.
October 9th is our next Chapter dinner meeting. See ya there.
The meeting was adjourned.

FROM OUR CHAPTER DIRECTOR
CD's Corner
Here it is, the coming end to our riding season and the
starting for Jeff and Karry. It's great having them back from
Alaska where they have been working. With the cooler and wetter
season coming upon us, be sure to dress accordingly and watch for
fallen leaves. Both can take us totally by surprise.
We have had one busy riding season. Lots of miles
have been put on by many and we've had safe ones too. If you
haven't been to any of our Friday night dinner rides or monthly
potlucks, you have really missed some good times. Our annual
planning potluck get-together on November 24th at Ron and Betty's will
be coming up soon so some and enjoy and have your favorite eating place
or ride handy so we can jot it on our calendar. This is your
Chapter so your input is very important for next years get togethers.
Also, we are needing a host and home for our October Halloween potluck.
If you are willing, please let me know.
Our Chapter's 25th anniversary is coming up in November.
Perhaps you can come up with a door prize from your business where you
have bought your motorcycle or purchased other products. We're
planning to have something special, so it really doesn't have to be
motorcycle related.
The past weekend was the campout at Concrete's Grandy
Creek KOA. We had 14 camping and on Saturday 12 traveled to
Winthrop and back for an enjoyable ride and an ice cream cone, too.
Three of us got to stay back at camp and enjoy the local Chapter of
Christian Motorcyclists of which some of our Chapter members are also
members. They were camped next to us so a good time was enjoyed by
all. Our dinners were in abundance and our conversations with side
hurting laughter was enjoyed by the smokeless camp fire. Only
wishing that the other Chapter members could be present.
Lee Witbeck will be leaving for Scottsdale, Arizona the
27th. He's gonna try being a snowbird this winter. So email
him and wish him a good time while he is enjoying the sun. Also,
Ed and Val Hnkle will be leaving soon for Arizona. It was good
seeing them at one of the Friday nights. Have fun you guys see you
in the Spring.
If you haven't noticed or heard, Kamm's have an 1800
Titanium colored bike and possibly another 1800 will be making the
scene soon. Congrates to both couples. May many safe miles
be ahead.
Remember, Friday is our last scheduled Friday night
dinner ride so check your schedule. Hope to see you all there
regardless of the weather.
See ya.
Garry and Judy

MISC.
Think about it....
Dark happens. Every night. So you should
never let it take you by surprise. Instead, be ready for night
riding.
What does that mean? Carry a clear faceshield to
replace your tinted one if you're riding at dusk. Also, be careful for
the first few minutes after leaving a lit garage or brightly lit parking
lot. If possible, let your eyes acclimatize in a dark location
before setting out. And, check your lights. Are they all
working?
