THE IMPORTANCE OF THE CO-RIDER The more Milli and I ride together and the more we do in GWRRA, the greater appreciation I have for my Co-Rider. Lets look at
the advantages or positives if you will with me.
The Co-Rider attends (hopefully) the Co-Rider seminar or some similiar
training, maybe even a BRC (Basic Rider Course) and is an individual (getting
politically correct here, bare with me) who can play as a second check by doing
a walk around the bike looking for anything that may have been missed by the
rider (It never hurts to have a second check - we're talking safety here
remember, and our lives may depend on this).
The Co-Rider can be a NAVIGATOR, personally this can be very helpful when
riding on unfamiliar roads and the directions you may be using are either typed
or hand written on a piece of paper. My
hands are controling the bike, and I'm busy scanning the road and those around
us. Plus this can aleviate some
stress while operating the motorcycle.
The Co-Rider is your CO-PILOT, from the start to the end of the the ride
your a team out there, and its a team effort to stay safe.
The Co-Rider using good communications skills can alert you to potential
dangers that the Rider may not be aware of, this is especially true in city or
conjested traffic conditions.
The Co-Rider is also someone to share the sheer enjoyment of the ride
with, ever ride along a very scenic country side that took your breath away, its
more fun to share it with that special someone in your life .
All in all, never take for granted or underestimate the resourses or
value of having a well informed Co-Rider along.
Have a safe ride together out ther Rider and Co-Rider.
THANK YOU
