The Tale of the "Traveling Tree"

During the summer of 2005, Genieve Kelton donated an artificial Christmas tree to the annual Chapter H  garage sale. She had salvaged the tree from her job at Macy's, and Jeff was insisting that it be removed from his garage.

Originally it looked like this:

The tree was not sold at the garage sale, but was stripped of it's ornaments. It ended taking up space in someone else's garage.

When Jeff  returned home from Alaska in September of 05, he found that the tree had appeared in his yard. There was a note attached indicating that it was a courtesy of his GWRRA family. The tree stayed there for a few days, since most everything else in the yard was brown, and it added some color.

Not too long after that, the tree made it's way to Ron and Betty Robertson's home, and planted itself in a flower bed. Ron and Betty were away on a ride at the time. It gained an ornament in it's journey

It disappeared for a while, then suddenly appeared at John and Cheryl Crawford's while they were on vacation..

Then it showed up at Bob Pittman's home. Apparently it showed up there while Bob was watching tv in his living room.

The curtains were open, but Bob missed the tree's arrival.

I wonder what Bob's Lynden neighbors thought about the tree?

It gained some more decorations in it's travels.

It next showed up at Karry and Karen Lattig's house, and stayed out of sight for a while. Karry keeps forgetting to send a picture.

It surfaced again at Chet and Kathy Renskers', coincidentally during the Chapter H Christmas party that Chet and Kathy were attending.

Kathy is hoping that since it is the Christmas season, maybe Santa will leave some chrome under the tree.

In early January, the tree  appeared at the Reid's.

Hey Guys, The tree has landed in our yard. Not sure what to do with

it. I would have thought that the wind had picked it up and relocated

it. But I noticed the concrete block holding it down. So I'm sure it

had help getting here. I have to say the tree elfs where real quit.

And we had just finished taking down the Christmas decorations. Thanks

for the thought I guess we are loved. I think??

Randy & Debbie

In February,it once again appeared, this time at Cliff & Pam Kamm's place.

"

Just when all the Christmas lights were taken down and tenderly stored away for another year, the homeless tree of motorcycling fellowship has graced our driveway with its glorious presence. (see attachment)   What a surprise!  I am prepared to tell the neighbors it is a raccoon trap or possibly a marker beacon for a UFO landing site. They will believe it. At least those who speak English and know me will believe it.  8>)
I must admit, you guys are good...

The next stop was at Paul and Kathy Kellet's home in Lynden.

Thanks to the unnamed chapter members that recreated the lost photos.

The latest stop is ACD Garry and Judy Calman's place.Who's next

Are you prepared to entertain the tree for a while?

The TREE is now at the Petty's

Next stop, around July 22 Lonnie and Jeanine Lyon's while they were away.

Funny how his thing rarely shows up when people are home.(except for Bob)

Th tree  found it's way back to it's roots and tree narrowly escaped being hauled to the dump

when it sought refuge in the alley next to the garbage can.

It showed up at the Chapter H Christmas Party at the Robertson's.

It seems to have cleaned up pretty well, and enjoyed a visit with the original rescuer.

It is said that it wants to travel across the country. It remains to be seen how this might happen.

So far it is a mystery as to how this tree is getting around.

Where will it end up next?

Maybe a neighborhood near you?
