Renee and I left Sat morning on a spur-of-the-moment  trip, heading south.  Took I5/405 to Renton then Enumclaw and
410 past Mt Rainer.  Then forest service roads south past Mt St Helens.  Interesting but not again; the roads were paved but
rough.  Overnight in The Dalles where all motels were booked due the Jackson Brown concert and we paid $100 at the Oregon
Motor Hotel.  (Would not stay there again). Eat at the Baldwin Saloon (closed Sunday).  Good food and history.

Next day heading southeast to hwy 206 to Condon and Fossil.  Neat rural towns and great scenery.  Low traffic density,
sweepers and changing landscape.  Hwy 19 to Spray and 207 back north to Heppner, and Umatilla.  This route took us thru some interesting towns and vistas.  Good roads and not much traffic.  We forged on to Richland and then thru Hanford via 240 and ran 215 miles between gas stops. Desert Aire was the first gas stop. Loaded 4.7 gallons. No signs to mention gas services from Richland.

Overnighted at Quincy; a growing town.  Stayed at the Traditional Inns and walked to the grill for a brew and pizza.  Highly recommend this motel; $48(AARP); King bed large room, and Cont Bfast.  The next morning, Monday, underway for Wenatchee and Hwy 2.  Hwy 20 was closed due to fires and the concert at Winthrop was without electricity; big mess we heard.  Hwy 2 is resurfaced on the east end and a great ride till you get to Goldbar, etc,  Back home by 1230 hrs for 982 miles and a good ride all around.
